John Gorham is co-owner and executive chef of iconic Portland restaurants Toro Bravo, Tasty n Sons, and Tasty n Alder, and co-owner of Mediterranean Exploration Company. Gorham believes that a chef’s cuisine and style is influenced by a trade route composed of travels, past work, cities lived in, and foods that their family made growing up. A ‘chef of the people’, Gorham celebrates a range of global cuisines at his influential restaurants; each with a unique identity but all embodying the quintessential Portland dining experience of family-style dishes, house-made charcuterie and seasonal sustainably-sourced ingredients.
Evening Chef of Tasty n Sons
Tynan Gibson is the evening chef at Tasty n Sons, a convivial neighborhood restaurant in North Portland, Oregon by restaurateur chef John Gorham, serving a sprawling family-style menu of inventive new Americana meets Chesapeake Bay cuisine. Gibson’s love of food extends beyond the kitchen – he cooks from the heart and is most rewarded by the conversations, experiences and emotions his dishes create for diners. Gibson grew up on the Oregon Coast and learned to cook from his mother at a young age. He acquired his professional cooking skills on the job, working his way through the ranks at restaurants in Oregon and in Colorado, like Riverhouse Restaurant and Blackfish Cáfe on the Oregon Coast, and Marché in Eugene, Oregon before joining the Tasty n Sons team as sous chef in 2011. Tasty n Sons’ newly remodeled dinner menu, spearheaded by Gibson, features West Coast interpretations of neighborhood favorites from the Eastern seaboard through Middle America. A passionate family man, Gibson’s free time is spent with his wife and new-born son Lucien, loving every moment of it.
